Defiance Investment Strategy & Methodology
The lineup is three different products. Enhanced-income funds use options on an index or commodity. Leveraged-income funds add leverage on a single name plus an income overlay. The thematic funds hold stocks and do not use options.
Options income
Index and commodity overlays
QQQY, IWMY, SPYT, WDTE, QQQT, QLDY, USOY, and GOLI seek income from options on an index, oil, or gold. QQQY uses a daily call-spread strategy on the Nasdaq-100 and was renamed on December 17, 2025.
Leverage plus income
MST seeks leveraged long exposure to Strategy (MSTR), together with an income overlay. The six other leveraged-income funds were liquidated in January 2026.
Thematic equity
QTUM and UFOX hold the stocks in a theme — quantum computing, and space and next-generation connectivity. They do not use an options overlay.
How the income is produced
Call spreads and overlays
The enhanced-income funds sell options against index or commodity exposure. That premium is the distribution, and it caps part of the upside.
Single-name leverage
The leveraged funds move more than the stock they track. The income overlay does not remove that drawdown.
Plain stock dividends
The thematic funds pay from the dividends of the companies they hold, on a quarterly schedule.
Defiance ETF Distribution Schedule
Enhanced-income and leveraged-income funds are on a monthly distribution schedule. QQQY's stated objective after the December 2025 rename is weekly income, and GOLI pays weekly. The thematic funds pay quarterly.
